Through the Lens of a Participant! – SeaOPS / Outdoor Adventures

I was first introduced to Outdoor Adventures through a kayaking activity at KOKOMO Beach Club, and it was a fantastic introduction to what they offer. That initial experience got me hooked—I went on to complete the SeaOPS 1-Star Sea Kayaking Course, which struck the perfect balance between safety, technique, hands-on practice, and learning to navigate various water conditions.

Encouraged by that, I signed up for the SeaOPS 1-2-3 Star Sea Dragon Boat Course, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. The learning went far beyond technical skills; it taught me about teamwork, discipline, endurance, and pushing my limits. The course has so much potential, and I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve!

From sea kayaking to dragon boating—and now even stand-up paddling (SUP)—I’ve truly become a SeaOPS enthusiast. The SUP session was peaceful and exhilarating, especially with the step-by-step guidance from the instructor that made standing and balancing on the board feel natural.

I’ve even started collecting SeaOPS certification cards like badges of honour! Most  recently, I completed the 2-Star Sea Kayaking Course, which was another valuable experience. Learning to use e-propellers and rudders helped conserve energy, especially during moments of fatigue. The night paddling segment was especially memorable—it really boosted my confidence with tips on reading markers, buoys, and navigating safely in the dark.

One of my biggest personal milestones was completing a 20-nautical-mile journey, which was made possible through the solid preparation and training provided. I highly recommend SeaOPS courses to anyone looking to boost their skills, confidence, and
