Outdoor Adventures welcomes corporate groups to KOKOMO Beach Club for a kayaking coastal clean-up at Pasir Ris Park. For many participants, it was their first time kayaking, but it didn’t take long before the group found their rhythm on the water.
What started as an outdoor activity quickly became a friendly team competition, with teams searching the coastline for non-organic waste and items that could potentially harm people or wildlife. By the end of the session, the group had collected an astonishing 20kg of rubbish from the surrounding waters and coastline
While 20kg may seem like a small number in comparison to the amount of waste found in our oceans, the real impact of the experience went beyond the weight collected.
Participants were given the opportunity to understand how our actions on land can eventually affect the sea, what we throw away can enter our waterways, be consumed by marine life and potentially make its way back into the food chain.
More importantly, the session reminded everyone that sustainability doesn’t always require a huge gesture. Sometimes, it starts with picking up one piece of rubbish, understanding where it came from, and choosing to do something about it.
At Outdoor Adventures, we believe that enjoying nature also means taking responsibility for protecting it!
